Simulation and Essential Skills Education
The role of the Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Taskforce is to facilitate and / or deliver training to doctors, paramedics, nurses, allied health professions and specialist teams by using communication skills, part task clinical skills, equipment and high fidelity simulation. This ensures our clinicians have the opportunity to practice, experience and explore both technical (e.g. putting in a cannula) and non-technical skills (e.g. communication skills, team working).
A range of training programmes are offered across all our sites and the service is continuing to evolve to meet the needs of one of the largest and most diverse health providers in the country.
The Medical Education Team oversees the delivery of all medical education provided by the Trust, from undergraduate medical and dental placements through Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, to the postgraduate foundation, core and speciality training programmes and faculty development for our trainers across the hospital sites.
The team also supports education programmes for general practice, dental practice, refugee education and elective placements, working closely with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and overseas universities.
