Advanced notice: electronic patient record downtime, 9 April

On Saturday 9 April, our ICT team will upgrade our core clinical system (Millennium) used for electronic patient records while we complete a major code upgrade to version 2015.

There will be a necessary planned downtime of the system on 9 April from 4am - 12pm (times approx.) at The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Mile End and Whipps Cross hospitals whilst we complete this work. The downtime has been scheduled to take place over a weekend to minimise disruption to services. GP systems (such as EMIS) will not be affected.

Hospital staff at The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Mile End and Whipps Cross will not have access to electronic information (including scheduled appointments and the NHS e-Referral Service) during the downtime. However, paper records will be available to ensure continuity of patient care.

We have successfully completed a number of similar downtimes over the past few years. Whilst our staff are well prepared, we would like to apologise in advance for any disruption.

The move supports our long term strategy to use electronic health records across all of our hospitals.
